Ohms symbol (omega)

Is it possible to include the omega ohms symbol for a resistor value in a TinyCad schematic? If so, how?

I hold down ALT and press 234 on the keypad.

  • Thankyou - yes that works, but it must be the keypad. And unfortunately
the symbols do not display correctly in the parts list, but I can live
    with that.

  • The simplest and most effective way to enter symbols like the Ohms character is to use the utility that has always come with Windows (under a few different names) and that almost no one ever uses: Windows 10 calls it the a??Character Mapa??. It is found under the Start Menu and called a??Windows Utilitiesa?? and then select a??Character Mapa??. It will allow you to graphically select any character (special or not) from any font and then use copy/paste to insert it into any document that supports multiple fonts. You should click the checkbox for a??Advanceda??. This enables a grouping box with a drop-down menu that lets you only display special groups of characters such as Greek, math operators, box drawing, number-like characters, etc. You will be surprised to find that some fonts have tens of thousands of characters thus the need for grouping by what you are looking for.

Hint: Pin this program to your Start Menu if you use technical characters frequently!

  • Why use the symbol? The accepted annotation is to use just R, K and M as a suffix or, for fractional values, they replace the point; such as 2R, 2K1 etc.
